Blueberries are considered to be rich in antioxidants.
But during new analysis, it was found that tropical blueberries have much more antioxidant content than blueberries available in the market.
Blueberries are among the healthiest food, so it is considered as a superfood. Due to its rich antioxidant content, it is grown widely.
During analysis, it was found that grown blueberries have far fewer nutrients and health benefits as compared to tropical blueberries.
Blueberries have high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) value 9,109 when cultivated. While tropical blueberries ORAC value range till 14,000. Thus, Tropical fruits are more beneficial for protecting us from free radicals.
What is ORAC?
ORAC is known as Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity, which is simply referred to as the capacity of food to absorb oxygen free radicals.
We need oxygen for survival. But when the oxidative stress increase in our body it leads to the production of free radicals from an oxygen molecule.
Free radicals are produced when it get –ve charge that makes it unstable.
Due to high instability, it starts damaging cells DNA and starts absorbing cell nutrient and makes the cell deficient in nutrients. But antioxidant absorbs those negative charges and make stable.
With high antioxidant content berries are most known food to prevent almost every disease like cancer, ageing, Alzheimer disease, heart disease, weight loss. So this list goes on.
As we live in the highly developed world, we might not get tropical foods. If we can’t get such nutritious food, then we should balance it with a healthy diet. A healthy diet will keep check of any nutrient deficiency and protect from disease. So eat fruits, vegetables, berries, cereal to get enough nutrients.
Eat balanced diet because we can’t calculate any food nutrient content. By maintaining a healthy diet we can prevent any nutrient deficiency.
